Europe’s longest running and most prestigious tournament is headed back to Ireland this coming spring. The €3,200+ €300 2011 Irish Open will take place from Apr. 22-25 inside the Burlington Hotel in Dublin.

This year things get even deeper with the initial stack up from 10,000 to 20,000 chips. Plus, the event will once again feature a €100,000 Sole Survivor promotion, meaning that the longest lasting qualifier in the event will win €100,000 in addition to any prize money.

The Irish Open is the oldest running poker tournament in Europe and second longest in the world after the World Series of Poker.

First made possible in 1981 by a well known Irish bookmaker Terry Rogers, the tournament has seen a ton of growth. Last year a record 708 players showed up to see the UK’s James Mitchell take down the title and €600,000 first prize.

The field was filled with top pros including Dan Harrington, Sandra Naujoks, Brian Townsend, Kara Scott, and former Irish open winners Marty Smyth and Neil Channing.
